Extracurriculars

TanenbaumCHAT has a lively school culture and strong ruach (spirit), with a wide range of extracurriculars. More than 100 clubs and committees give students plenty of ways to get involved—whether building on interests they already have or trying something new. It’s also a chance to develop skills, make friends, and step into leadership roles. The school has an active Student Council and hosts many events throughout the year, including plays and musicals, a talent show, and various celebrations and competitions.

Athletics

TanenbaumCHAT fields a wide range of sports teams across the fall, winter, and spring seasons. Teams are led by dedicated teachers who volunteer their time to coach and support student-athletes as they develop their skills and confidence. The school competes in the Toronto District Catholic Athletic Association (TDCAA), with some teams advancing to the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) championships.

The athletics program also includes opportunities beyond regular competition. TanenbaumCHAT hosts visiting schools from Israel and the United States at the Israel Becker Invitational Basketball Tournament, and basketball teams have the opportunity to travel to a tournament in Baltimore. The student Athletic Council plays an active role in organizing events such as the Terry Fox Run and a variety of intramural activities, including flag football, three-on-three basketball, and dodgeball.

Sports offerings vary from year to year but typically include activities such as badminton, baseball, basketball, cross country, curling, field hockey, flag football, golf, ice hockey, skiing, snowboarding, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, and volleyball.
