As October 16 serves as the day designated as the National Day of Remembrance for the victims of the October 7 massacre and those who fell in the Iron Swords War, our school community came together this morning to take part in a meaningful commemorative assembly, hosted by Ma'ayan F. and Yuval Z. Students heard a moving personal story of loss shared by Ms. Koplowitz ’08, and heartfelt musical performances, including a special rendition of Dancing Queen, performed by Emma H. and Mr. Craig, dedicated to the Nova Festival victims and another touching song entitled Etzlenu Bagan performed by Ziva P. and Sarah S., and Carly S. on flute, dedicated to the fallen. Following the assembly, students and staff gathered outdoors to form a giant Israeli flag out of 1200 smaller Israeli flags (each representing a life lost on October 7, 2023), and release yellow balloons into the sky in a powerful display of unity and remembrance. Todah rabah to our students for their heartfelt participation and to the Israel Engagement Council, Ms. Berkel, Mr. Craig, Ms. Israelski, Ms. Koplowitz '08, Ms. Peled and Mr. Sable '90, for organizing such a moving ceremony.
