TanenbaumCHAT is seeking an Admissions Coordinator.

Who we’re looking for:

Reporting to the Principal, the Vice Principal, General Studies, will be responsible for assisting the Principal in the overall day to day running of the school. They will help drive curricular innovation and 21st century learning, assist in the recruitment, hiring, training, assignment, supervision, and evaluation of faculty, liaise with parents, students and faculty, as needs arise, help ensure a high quality educational product in General studies, assist with defining and enforcing policies and guidelines for students, staff, and faculty at the school and help oversee, manage and lead other duties as determined by the Principal.

The ideal candidate will possess appropriate leadership, educational, management and administrative skills and experience; will be able to give educational leadership in accordance with the TanenbaumCHAT ethos, mission and vision; will display leadership qualities, determination, confidence, and strong decision-making abilities; and will serve as a role model, promote professional practices, and embody the values of the school.

Key responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Help ensure that delivery of curriculum in General Studies is consistent with TanenbaumCHAT standards, school ethos and Ontario Ministry standards

  • Work with Principal in developing new, inspiring and innovative General studies curriculum, programming and courses, in accordance with the school’s strategic plan

  • Meet regularly with teachers on instructional and curricular matters

  • Help ensure appropriate staff supervision, and maintenance of appropriate professional standards in school

  • Assist in handling day-to-day student, parent or teacher issues, related to General Studies, as they arise and communicating/problem-solving accordingly with all stakeholders

  • Help create a culture of constant improvement within a collaborative professional learning environment

  • Establish a visible presence in the school, including in the classrooms and hallways

  • Help to support and mentor staff to build capacity as instructional leaders

  • Help ensure that day to day educational practices are driven by our TanenbaumCHAT mission and vision as set out by the Board of Directors

  • Help create a culture of constant improvement within a collaborative professional learning environment

  • Assist in ensuring maintenance of academic records and reporting according to Ministry requirements

  • Assist with day to day school administrative tasks including but not limited to: overseeing General Studies FSTs and exams, reviewing report cards, ensuring consistency of the classroom experience etc.

  • Help plan and supervision of school calendar and events

  • Assist in ensuring on-going communication with parents, students and staff

  • Assist with extraordinary discipline issues and in problem-solving between staff, students and parents

  • Assist in enforcing policies and guidelines for students, staff, and faculty at the school

  • Assist in facilitation of staff meetings, professional development, team meetings, group meetings and department heads’ meetings

  • Attend school functions outside of regular school hours

  • Conduct intake interviews, as needed

  • Assist in working with Department Heads and staff to identify short and long term goals

  • Help oversee General Studies extra-curricular programming

  • Assist in overseeing Dean's office with regard to Exam Central and literacy test

  • Job description and assigned tasks may be updated for time to time

  • Other duties and project assignments as determined and assigned by the Principal or designate, as they arise

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year school administration leadership experience required (school management)

  • Breadth and depth of leadership ability in a variety of contexts; including strong instructional leadership rooted in modern pedagogies and focused on student-centred
    learning approaches

  • Must have a track record that demonstrates exceptional analytical skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to think critically about issues and solutions.

  • Strong interpersonal, problem solving, leadership, organizational and communication skills

  • Be able to inspire staff towards improvement in their professional practice

  • Knowledgeable about leading-edge educational research, pedagogy and curriculum development in General Studies

  • Advanced degree in education or equivalent is an asset

  • OCT certification required (intermediate and senior qualifications)

  • Principal qualifications are an asset but not required
